What ducted installs have you done in Mooloolaba?
Much of our Mooloolaba ducted work is replacing an existing system. That includes 10 kW slimline replacements for homes and for business or body corporate sites, a Fujitsu 10 kW with AirTouch 5, and a 14 kW Gree with AirTouch 5. We also refitted a light as part of one replacement.
Replacement jobs mean the old unit comes out and the new one goes in. On the Fujitsu job we upgraded the ducting and the air filter and added rustproofing. On the Gree job we also fixed the outdoor piping. The site inspection checks whether the existing ductwork is worth keeping or needs upgrading.

What is a slimline ducted system and do I need one?
A slimline ducted system has a shallower indoor unit, made for roof spaces with limited height. We have fitted 10 kW slimline replacements in Mooloolaba. Whether you need one depends on the roof space, and we measure it at the site inspection before recommending a unit.
Roof space is often what decides the unit, particularly when you are replacing a system that was fitted years ago. The indoor unit has to fit, the ducts need clear runs, and there must be room to get to it later. A slimline unit is not a lesser system. It is the right shape for a tight space, sized to the zones in the same way as any other ducted unit.
Does salt air affect ducted air conditioning in Mooloolaba?
Yes. Mooloolaba is on the coast, and salt air wears outdoor units and fittings faster than inland air. We have added rustproofing on a Mooloolaba replacement, and it is worth asking about at the design stage for any system close to the water.
Rustproofing protects the outdoor unit, where salt does most of its damage. How much it matters depends on how close the unit sits to the water and how exposed the spot is. We check that at the free site inspection. Our 10 year workmanship warranty covers defects in our installation work only, not equipment faults, fair wear and tear or lack of servicing. How do you size a replacement ducted system?
We add up the heat load of every zoned room at about 150 W per square metre, then size at about 70% of that total, because the zones are never all running flat out at once. We do the same sums for a replacement, rather than just matching the old unit's size.
In practice a 12.5 kW system suits 5 zones, about 120 m2 of zoned rooms, and a 14 kW suits 6 zones, about 130 m2. Insulation, glass, ceiling height and orientation all shift the answer, and the inspection adjusts for them. Return air matters too. A 10 to 14 kW system takes a 900 x 500 return grille, and 16 kW and above takes a 900 x 550.
How do you quote ducted air conditioning in Mooloolaba?
Every ducted quote starts with a free site inspection. We check the roof space, the zones and the building itself, then the quote is fixed after the inspection. Most Sunshine Coast homes land between $11,000 and $18,000 installed, and larger homes can reach about $22,000, depending on home size, zones and roof space.
The exact price comes from the inspection. Finance through humm is available, always subject to approval by humm. Businesses and body corporates are quoted the same way. Equipment carries the manufacturer warranty, such as Fujitsu 5 years or Hisense 7 years parts and labour. We are QBCC licensed and ARC authorised. Call 1800 335 828 to book.
