What ducted installs have you done in Caloundra West?
We have installed ducted systems from 10 kW to 16 kW in Caloundra West, mostly for homes and including a job for a business or body corporate. Brands include Mitsubishi Electric and Fujitsu, and most jobs use AirTouch 5 zone control.
Recent work includes a 14 kW Fujitsu ducted system for a business or body corporate and a 12.5 kW Mitsubishi Electric with AirTouch 5 for a home. Earlier homes had a 12.5 kW Mitsubishi Electric ducted system, a 10 kW system with AirTouch 5 and a 16 kW Mitsubishi Electric with AirTouch 5. That last job also included removing and reinstalling an existing split system.

Can a ducted install include moving an existing split system?
Yes, it can. On one Caloundra West job we removed and reinstalled a split system as part of the ducted installation. Whether that makes sense depends on where the split sits and what it serves, and we sort that out first.
Sometimes a split in a room outside the ducted zones stays on as its own system. Sometimes it is moved so the new ducting and outdoor unit fit cleanly. Either way, we look at it during the free site inspection and tell you what we would do before the quote is fixed.
What size ducted system suits a Caloundra West home?
We add up the heat load of every zoned room at about 150 W per square metre, then size the system at about 70% of that total, because the zones are never all running flat out at once. That sets the system size.
In practice a 12.5 kW system suits 5 zones, being 4 bedrooms plus an open kitchen, living and dining, about 120 m2 of zoned rooms. A 14 kW suits 6 zones, about 130 m2, with a media room or similar added. The inspection adjusts for insulation, glass, ceiling height and orientation. For return air, 10 to 14 kW takes a 900 x 500 grille and 16 kW and above a 900 x 550.

How do you quote ducted air conditioning in Caloundra West?
We start with a free site inspection, then give a fixed quote after it. Most Sunshine Coast homes land between $11,000 and $18,000 installed, and larger homes can reach about $22,000, depending on home size, zones and roof space.
The exact price comes from the inspection. We look at the home, the roof space and the rooms you want zoned. Finance is available through humm, always subject to approval by humm. To book, call 1800 335 828 or visit deltatemp.com.au.
