What ducted installs have you done in Banksia Beach?
We have installed ducted systems from 12.5 kW to 20 kW in Banksia Beach, in both Fujitsu and Mitsubishi Electric. The work covers homes and businesses or body corporates, and most include AirTouch 5 zone control. Some also had ducting upgrades and rustproofing.
One recent home job replaced a ducted system with a 20 kW and a 12.5 kW Fujitsu. Another fitted a 15.5 kW Fujitsu with AirTouch 5. Two homes had 14 kW Mitsubishi Electric systems with AirTouch 5, one of them with a ducting upgrade and rustproofing. The business or body corporate job was a 12.5 kW Mitsubishi Electric with AirTouch 5, a ducting upgrade, rustproofing and a replacement front cover.

Why do some ducted jobs include a ducting upgrade and rustproofing?
When we replace an older system, the ducting often gets a look too, because new equipment is only as good as the air path it feeds. Rustproofing is worth asking about this close to the coast, where salt air attacks outdoor units.
Some Banksia Beach jobs included a ducting upgrade and rustproofing alongside the new unit. We can talk through whether either suits your home at the inspection. The return air matters too. As a rule of thumb we use a 900 x 500 return grille for 10 to 14 kW ducted and a 900 x 550 for 16 kW and above. A return that is too small makes a new system work harder than it should.
How is a ducted system sized for my home?
We add up the heat load of every zoned room at about 150 W per square metre, then size the system at about 70% of that total, because the zones are never all running flat out at once. That is how we land on a size.
In practice a 12.5 kW system suits 5 zones, being 4 bedrooms plus an open kitchen, living and dining, about 120 m2 of zoned rooms. A 14 kW suits 6 zones, the same plus a media room or similar, about 130 m2. The inspection then adjusts for insulation, glass, ceiling height and orientation. Larger homes need bigger systems, and our Banksia Beach work has gone up to 20 kW.

How do you quote ducted air conditioning in Banksia Beach?
We start with a free site inspection, then give a fixed quote after it. Most Sunshine Coast homes land between $11,000 and $18,000 installed, and larger homes can reach about $22,000, depending on home size, zones and roof space.
The exact price comes from the inspection, not from a guess over the phone. Home size, zone count and roof space are what move the number. Finance is available through humm, always subject to approval by humm. To book the inspection, call 1800 335 828 or visit deltatemp.com.au.
