In Sippy Downs we have replaced a 2.5 kW Hisense split and a 5 kW system for business or body corporate clients. In homes we installed two 2.5 kW Mitsubishi Electric wall mounted units, and added a 2.5 kW Mitsubishi Electric head unit to an existing multi head.
These jobs date from 2024 to 2026. Replacements are a common request: an older unit comes out and a new one goes in, sized to suit the room or the business. Can a new head unit be added to an existing multi head system?
Sometimes. In Sippy Downs we added a 2.5 kW Mitsubishi Electric head unit to an existing multi head outdoor unit at a home. Whether it works depends on the outdoor unit's capacity and its spare connection, so it is checked before we quote.
Adding to an existing system can save the cost of a new outdoor unit, but only if the outdoor unit can carry the extra room. If it cannot, a separate split or a new system may be the better answer. We will tell you plainly which one suits, and we quote only what the install needs.
Which split system brand should I choose?
We install Mitsubishi Electric, Hisense and Fujitsu, and we are a Fujitsu Dealer and Hisense Pro Dealer. Most single splits land between $2,000 and $3,700 installed, and the largest 8 to 9.5 kW units reach about $5,200, depending on size, brand and the install.
Manufacturer warranty is Fujitsu 5 years and Hisense 7 years parts and labour. Our own installation work carries a 10 year workmanship warranty, which covers defects in our installation work only, not equipment faults, fair wear and tear or lack of servicing.
