Aura is the Sunshine Coast's biggest growth area, and almost every home in it is new or near new. That changes the air conditioning conversation. The best time to put ducted into a new home is at frame stage, before the plaster goes up, and the next best time is straight after handover. Delta Temp is based at 2/11 Abeles Street, Baringa, so Aura is our own neighbourhood.

Aura at a glance
  • Suburbs: Baringa, Nirimba, Banya and the newer stages to the south
  • Housing: new single and double storey homes on compact lots, most built by volume and custom builders
  • Our base: 2/11 Abeles Street, Baringa, minutes from every Aura street
  • In our records: 15+ completed installations across Aura's suburbs

Who installs ducted air conditioning for new builds in Aura?

Delta Temp installs ducted air conditioning for builders and owner builders across Aura, working from plans before the slab or frame. We are the air conditioning subcontractor for 15+ Sunshine Coast builders, with 35+ builder projects completed in the last three years, and our own crew does every rough in, fit off and commissioning.

If your builder has not included ducted, you can usually nominate us or have it added as a variation. Send us the plans and we design the system, give you a fixed quote, and work to your builder's program so the ducts and drains go in at frame stage and the outlets and controller go in after paint.

Is it better to install ducted during the build or after handover?

During the build is easier and neater. At frame stage the ducts, drains and power run through open walls and ceilings, the return air goes exactly where the design wants it, and nothing has to be patched afterwards. After handover still works well in most Aura homes, because the roof spaces are new, clean and have room for the indoor unit.

The difference after handover is access. We work through the manhole and the finished ceilings, cut in the outlets and the return grille, and run the condensate drain to an approved point. A typical retrofit into a near new single storey Aura home takes one to two days.

What size ducted system does a new Aura home need?

Most four bedroom Aura homes with an open kitchen, living and dining area suit about 12.5 kW across five zones. Add a media room or study as a sixth zone and it is usually about 14 kW. We get there by allowing about 150 W per square metre for each zoned room, then sizing the system at about 70 percent of that total.

The 70 percent step matters because the zones are never all running flat out at once: the bedrooms run overnight and the living areas run in the day. New Aura homes are well insulated and sealed, so the inspection or plan review often confirms the smaller end of the range, as long as the west facing glass is accounted for.

What should I check in my builder's air conditioning allowance?

Check the brand and capacity, the number of zones, whether a zone controller such as AirTouch 5 is included, where the return air grille goes, and whether the price covers the power circuit and isolator. A low allowance often means a smaller system, fewer zones or a basic controller, and upgrading after the build costs more than getting it right on the plans.

We are happy to review a builder's allowance against the plans and tell you, plainly, what it gets you. If it is fine, we say so.

Why choose Delta Temp in Aura?

We are local to Aura in the most literal sense: the workshop is in Baringa. We have installed 1,000+ systems across the Sunshine Coast, our own licensed team does the air conditioning and the electrical, and every installation carries our 10 year workmanship warranty on top of the manufacturer warranty (Fujitsu 5 years and Hisense 7 years parts and labour).

Being a few minutes away also matters after the install. When a new home settles in its first year and something needs a look, we are around the corner.
